A PRECIOUS DETAIL
The wrought iron bed
The bed may be considered the most important piece of furniture in the house, since we spend about a third of our lives in it. It’s the place where we sleep, dream, love, and where unique moments in our lives take place.
Some well-known personalities have even made it their place of work: Winston Churchill, Matisse, Rossini, and Colette all wrote, painted, and composed in bed. The poet Milton wrote “Paradise Lost” in bed, and Marcel Proust composed his masterpiece “A Remembrance of Things Past” mostly while lying in bed.
Wrought iron beds first became popular in the 1800’s and are sought after today. They lend a touch of class and elegance to our bedrooms, and, who knows, they may inspire you too.
